Many thanks BB....how far out did you find the beautiful shells? Reading your post was the next best thing to being there!

Most of the shells were only 10-25 ft. from the shore. All of them were found between the beach and the first sandbar while we were there.

My brother and I wore masks to look for things on the bottom. We did find some debris that we carried up onto the beach and added to the pile of stuff there. We saw lots of fish, tiny crabs, and even some large crabs. The big crabs were about the size of a saucer or small plate (the main part of their body). They were usually hanging out near the front side of the sandbar or near large pieces of cement that were washed out by Dennis.

The shells were not too hard to spot. Usually part of it would be sticking out of the sand. Just be sure to have a stick or something to uncover the shell and poke it to make sure there are no creatures inside! I brought some home and soaked them in soapy water for a few hours to get rid of the "fishy" smell. Now they are on my coffee table to enjoy year round!
