I jsut know y'all have been missing these holiday observances the past few days.
Anyhoo, I always heard this was bad luck--to open an umbrella indoors. I take no chances. But, I've used mine plenty this week, outside.
Other superstitions that you know are silly, but take heed of anyway?

No thanks DD. I've already stood under 3 ladders, scaffolding, and seen a black cat today. So far only the platform part of the scaffolding had hit me in the head.

Call me superstious, but no opening and umbrella inside for me today. I gotta save something for tomorrow!

...you jsut gave me an idea! I think I will go open that umbrella INSIDE the house and see if it stops this week's bad luck (water line break, roof leak, live oak tree leaves falling and making a mess right after the other leaves had been cleaned up) can be reversed!

I had a black cat for 7 years. When he crossed my path, he was usually trying to trip me. (He died young; apparently I was worse luck than he was.)

Okay, to celebrate the day and stand superstition on its heels, I opened an umbrella indoors under a ladder while breaking a mirror and holding a black cat all on Friday the 13th.
