I have a friend who moved down here six months ago. She just found out her husband has been having an affair and she is looking for a good lawyer. They have kids and a lot of assets. The husband can be a controlling person and has threatened to take the kids, hide the money, and leave her destitute. I've never gone through this before and don't know what direction to point her in. Someone said that the people on SoWal would be a great resource. Do any of you know of a REALLY GOOD divorce attorney? She is a great mom and needs someone who can really stand up for her. Any referrals would be most appreciated.

Thank You

Wow, so sorry to hear of such a betrayal, especially after a move. Nearest really strong lawyers I know of for such a situation would be Levin, Papantonio over in Pensacola...

Levin/Papantonio don't handle divorce cases--they specialize in personal injury/product liability/malpractice and are known as the best in the busine$$. However, if there is BIG, BIG money involved though....I'm sure they will be happy to point you in the direction of one of their local goombahs.

Levin, Papantonio does NOT handle family law. Florida is a no-fault state and marital infidelity is of little consequence in the final outcome of a Florida divorce. There are several good family law attorneys in both the Pensacola and the Destin area. Just make sure that you direct your friend to someone who specializes in that area of practice and has been doing it for several years. You can use www.martindale.com/ to look up the rating and qualifications of any attorney. I would suggest that your friend hire a board certified trial attorney.

My first wife had a really good attorney....:bang: Dana Mathews 837-3662
Sorry, but I must :rotfl: on that one. I know that feeling of pain, so I did it another way, which was still painful on the pocket book, but not so painful mentally.

Take him on a shark fishing trip!!!!:rotfl:
:funn: You've been watching too many thriller movies, but that might be an idea. I think if the wife just places a big pair of sharp scissors on her bedside table:eek: before she goes to bed, the man may take notice, and fear something much greater than a shark fishing trip.

Thanks for the referrals. I prefer the Lorena Bobbit idea myself. I'd love to look at the guy and call him "Stubby." I'm wondering what kind of fish you could catch with it? I know while still intact the owners are frequently trolling for sucker fish.
