I have a Dell laptop that I got in 2006 and I haven't used it since 2007. I was trying to use it last night, and there was nothing. It is super slow and I can't get anything accomplished. There's nothing on it that I need, so I was thinking of completely wiping everything on it out. Is this do-able? and if so, how? All that I really need to keep is Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office. Can anyone help? Thanks!

use firefox for your web browser. it has a better interface and picks up less malware.

NO, I don't have them. I think a friend has them, but at this point I wouldn't mind buying them....

CHA CHING!!!

You would need the Office XP or 2003 suite. They are up to 2007, now. While it would most likely run on your operating system (XP?) it might actually run even slower than what you have. The stripped down new version is 150 bucks. Add Outlook and it's 230. If you can get the old disks, you could reformat your computer with your original system disks and reinstall the old Office. It's a laborious process at best.

You probably have a decent processor, the issue is most likely your memory. Since you're in Defuniak head over to "I fix computers with heavy conservative overtones". Robert will probably be able to help.
