We have been in our house for 31 years this year and the we have seen many people come and go. We have for some unknown reason a lot of widowed older ladies (7) that is has become my task of helping out when the need arises. Handyman type of stuff and in the winter it takes me 2 hours to clean all of their drives and sidewalks. During the summer they all bring bakery over to repay me for cleaning their yards. We get together a couple of times during the summer and fall for bonfires to talk about the neighborhood. All in all we live in a grayt area and all of the neighbors enjoyed our kids growing up.

I have the bestest neighbors of all! franny & canuck! not only do I adore my neighobrs, I socialize with them constantly and drink too much vino all because of them!

we have lots of neighbors we've known forever and ever. we may not socialize with many, but we always know they are there and will always be good, helping, wonderful neighbors. we're blessed with a wonderful neighborhood filled with great people - many are very old friends! (however, we do have a new neighobr who I must admit I have not met yet - I feel bad).

Yes, I know the ones across the street, everyone 3 doors down and in between on both sides, everyone that lives behind me and then several on the street that are not as close to my location, such as the really hot young guy that jogs in the evening with the really cute lab that my Sadie likes.

The Mexican couple with the adorable children that I have given many barely used toys to, who are trying to teach me Spanish. They love my dog.

We are a very varied, international group my next door neighbors are from Vietnam. I don't speak Vietnamese, but we do pretty good communicating and their children speak English and I am learning. They cook all their food outside, because it smells horrible, even their kids agree.

One of my favorite neighbors lives behind me on the cove that runs behind our street. They are an older, retired black couple and Joe laughs and tells me I am his only white friend and if any of his black friends come over when I am there I am to pretend I am the insurance lady, as he says, "they are not very open minded".:rotfl:

His wife does not drive, so while he is at work during the day, the "insurance lady" comes by sometimes and takes his wife out to lunch. :D

My neighbor on the other side is in her late 60's and is a widow, her husband died during the night of a massive heart attack on the day he retired. I heard the fire truck and ambulance arrive, as I was the only one awake that late and held her hand while they tried to revive him.

My noisy neighbor two doors down is my Mom's age and she knows everything about everyone in the nieghborhood but her husband does mow my lawn when I am out of town and get my mail. I will take the good with the bad.

My neighbor across the street is Jevoviah Witness and every Wednesday night they have bible study at their house, and while I am Methodist and do not agree with all their doctrine they do pray for me every week and I will take all I can get in that department.

We are an old neighborhood with trees over a hundred years old and houses 50 years old and older and we are definitely not the most affluent, but are rich in many other ways.

I would miss all of them.

Aw, c'mon, Minnie. You know you hate it when you can't sit on your patio on a beautiful summer evening because your Vietnamese neighbors are stinking up the air with their barbeques. :rotfl:

We know our immediate neighbors well enough to speak and watch each other's papers/mail if needed. One neighbor is a Methodist music minister and is never home, the others are older than my parents so we don't really have the same social interests. Down the street there are 5-6 households closer to our age that are super nice, have us over for ball games and such-I met them walking the neighborhood-wish I could move my house a few houses down!! I grew up in the country where my neighbors were my aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents so I certainly had a close relationship with them!!
