Oceana Grill has Petunia's old breakfast menu-same french toast but tell them light on the powder sugar! Surrey's Cafe on Magazine in the lower Garden District has my favorite breakfast in town-share the Montana and get a fresh made bagel to the side and large fresh squeezed OJ. Stanley on Jackson Square has hubby's fav breakfast of Breaux Bridge Benedict. I also love Johnny's po boys for bfast-nothing fancy but great biscuits and good solid omelets.

Lunch: Johnny's po boys, Coops for gumbo and fried crab dressing stuffed peppers (twice last trip!), mom loved Mahony's po boys.

Dinner: Loved Italian at Eleven 79 for a nice dinner, Bon Ton Cafe was very good as well, avoid Remoulade's because food and service sucked!

El Gato Negro for Mexican food at lunch or dinner-great steak taco on homemade corn tortilla and pulled pork tamales so good that we picked up 6 wrapped to bring home in our cooler!

Kupcake Factory required 2 trips-loooved caramel apple cupcake and reese's! Southern Candymakers has great pralines! Sucre had yummy fancy chocolates and gelato. Angelo Brocato's praline gelato was life changingly fabulous! La Divina had great aztec chocolate gelato and hubby loved their creole cream cheese gelato.

Drinks: El Gato Negro pineapple, lime cilantro marg (cut the cilantro for me), orange and lime was yummy, too. Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop for hurricanes and sit on the patio if you can and take a picture with the nudie statue (tradition). Drink some Abita's since they taste better there.

Old New Orleans Rum Distillery tour for $10 was fun and came with a 4 flight tasting as well as a lovely cocktail and a taste of their rum cake and rum balls!

Should have said staples (other than dumonde, which is just something you do if you haven't been to NO in a while). As mentioned, you go right more than you go wrong in that city. On Cochon, if you can't get reservations they still keep open tables for walkins but be prepared to wait. Not sure if you are driving from here or Arkansas but it is worth hitting a few stops on the Boudin Trail Barbecue Trail or Tamale Trail on your way.

We had reservations at Cochon this last trip but hubby didn't want to get dressed for dinner again and just wanted to hang in the FQ so we cancelled. It's top on my list for next trip.

I agree that Cafe du Monde is a must do, we usually stop through late at night for a snack!
