Try and catch a great happy hour at the WWII muesem in John Besh's American Sector restaurant. $.75 sliders and 1/2 price drinks EVERY day 3-6! Also Cochon in the warehouse district is a must! Second Jacques Imo's but go on a Tuesday night late and catch Rebirth Brass Band even later at the Leaf! Capdeville is a new place right by Lafeyette Square (on Capdeville st) very yummy and not so crowded just yet (still a secret). Have fun!

Bacco > Menus

Bacco in the Quarter, owned by Ralph Brennan. One of my fave eateries on the planet so far.

For more casual fare, go to Frenchman Street after 9 or 10 p.m. and wander, go in wherever you hear music coming out that you like, and on the street, look for Mr. Biddle with the Viddles. Amazing BBQ chicken sandwiches on fantastic bread for amazingly low $$. All these great street vendors come out to provide food, after the restaurants stop serving food and devote their spaces to serious music and libation. Good times.

Thanks everyone, I took my computer so I had time to read your suggestions after we got to the hotel, but just now got home and had time to post.

We went to Cochon, :clap:The lemon-buttermilk pie was delicious. Also ate at Superior Grill, had wonderful fajitas and fabulous margaritas. Fun place and walking distance to where we stayed. I was sad to see that after 26 years Cannon's Restaurant on St. Charles had closed.

The pregame show was just the best fun ever. Dave Matthews Band played over an hour just for the fans, before the NBC pregame show. He said if his fans were willing to be there 5 hours before the show to practice, the least he could do was sing for them. It was fantastic.

On Wednesday I had to go to the parking lot and wait in line to pick up my wristband for my free admission to Jackson Square. Needless to save standing in line in a hot parking lot at Mardi Gras World was not the highlight, but the next day it was so worth it.

My daughter was lucky enough to have been picked by the casting company to be part of the street crowd you could see on TV. The rest of us were in the park which had been closed off for the event.

While at Mardi Gras World, we went on the tour, something in all our trips to NOLA I have never done and so glad we did. During the Pregame show for those that missed it they had the first ever NFL Football Krewe parade and the floats were still at Mardi Gras World on Wed. so we got to see them up close. We were excited to see Deuce McAllister on one of the floats during the parade.

It was a memorable two days. For the casted audience, they gave each person a couple of raffle tickets and at the end of the Pregame Show they drew tickets, my daughter won a Sean Payton autographed mini helmet.

She also got a Dave Matthews guitar pick so she was beyond excited with both.

I have been going to NOLA often in 30 years and I am always amazed by something new and exciting, there simply is no place like it.

The Who Dat Nation was alive and strong.

Sounds like a fantastic trip to Nola Minnie! its a very special place to visit. and for me, its all about the food every meal, every day, every minute. starting with morning begneits and cafe au lait. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.................... then a down home diner packed with locals for lunch... then a hole in the wall bistro, out of the way kind of place, for dinner.

We enjoyed some music at Maple Leaf on our last visit - a real local kind of joint, met lots of neighbors and musicians.

DM band was great! I looked for your girl, Minnie, but faces blend together when they pan the crowd. Glad you had funn!

I watched the recorded version and even I could not pick her out, she could because she knew where she was standing. I think I found a NFL photo online with just the top of her head in it, lol.

It was a great event.

The police stopped the event people from giving out the rest of the gifts as they were ready to take down the stage. My daughter was one of only two to get a prize and she took her autographed helmet and ran, lol.
