This ran in the Daily News...The candy bowls were my idea.
Madge, Guy go for the 'works
Prayers and pyrotechnics bookended Madonna's holiday weekend in New York.
Her Madgesty and her red-stringed family - husband Guy Ritchie and children Lourdes and Rocco - arrived a half-hour late to the New York Kabbalah Centre for Friday evening services. Modestly dressed in a black raincoat, she raised a glass of Arak to say "L'Chaim." (She and Guy showed no signs of marital discord, often whispering and touching.) The Ritchies were back for Saturday services, where Guy spoke about his forthcoming documentary on kabbala. (He referenced Albert Pike's 1871 book "Morals and Dogma," noting links between the symbols of the kabbala and those of Freemasonry.)
On Sunday, the Material One was back to work at the Garden - hanging on that glittering crucifix and shaking her thing for a crowd that included former flings Lenny Kravitz and David Blaine.
After another show Monday, she celebrated her independence by heading with the family to the Water Club to watch the Macy's fireworks.
"Around 9:20, Madge and company took their seats," reports The News' Joe Dziemianowicz, who happened to be sitting at the next table.
Having banned her children from watching TV, she's apparently also forbidden them sweets. Says Joe: "First thing she did was remove a bowl of candy from the table."
