respectfully, how can you compare the two? nobel peace prize is exactly what it reads and theres no "peace" accomplishments. in fact, he's done the complete opposite by apologizing for america and siding with dictators.

i think he got the award because of exactly this. the world has always been jelous of this nation and they always will. and by having a u.s. prez apologize for our accomplishments is music to their ears thus the reward. what did carter and arafat (wrong spelling i know) do for peace? this org has now shown to be a joke, just like the academy awards.

Nobel peace prise selection committee

Here's the deal as I see it. The Nobel peace prize was not funded by us ( the US or us as individuals). None of us has a vote and only a very select few are allowed to nominate. This award is nothing like a popular election. Why are so many people spinning their wheels? I agree, I disagree; I object, I approve; I'm in a snit so I am going to spout off. The Nobel commitee has done an awful lot of good for an awful lot of people. Those of you who believe your contributions to society, medicine, science, economics, whatever, are equivalent...feel free to send them your detailed thoughts. I am confident the Committee is awaiting your assessment and any and all recommendations. I am just of an age where I was taught, those who don't pay for it, don't get a vote.:D

I really think you are 'way off base. I don't buy the "apologizing" bit, what he has said is that, sometimes we have done things that deviated from what has made us a great nation, and he is correct...we did that.

he has reached out his hand (and by extension ours) in friendship to all the world...regardless of what they believe, or how they look...

he has stood up under the greatest of burdens and said he and we would do the right thing...in Iraq, at Gitmo, about the financial mess, about the infringement on US citiznes' rights, about health care, and the auto industry, about jobs and working people's income...he has vowed to protect our country and her citizens...all of us.

He promised he would go after the ones who perpertrated the horror of 911...he said he would improve the lives for our military men and women, and our veterans.

He is working toward all of this and more: he has begun to talk to Iran, to the power brokers in the Middle East--the list is endless and he has been there for less than 10 months...and he has had to fight against all the Republican elected officials and many of the Democrats.

It is getting a bit tiring to hear from the ones who would have him fail--just because he won and your team didn't. Get over it--he is the president, the majority of us voted for him--because we believed we needed to change the direction our country was going.

This is not about your political team losing--this is about the entire country surviving and becoming solvent again. This is about a better world for our children and grandchildren.

This is about a bigger idea than Republican or Democrat.

Frankly, if he sat in the White House and did absolutely NOTHING for a year or longer, it would have been an improvement IMO because his election at least stopped what had been happening. But, he has begun work on much more than that. He could use the support of all the country--there is plenty of time to gear up the political machine again. Now, we need to behave as Americans.

As Kurt says, he is our President--all of us--and he has been recognized and honored by one of the most prestigious entities in the world--we can only build from this honor. And, if you and others do not understand that, then I would suggest you go somewhere and think about it for awhile.

Obama Humble not on my TV!

Obama a very humble and Big man.

Steele a very small man.

I never would have chosen the word HUMBLE to describe Mr. Obama. He seems to enjoy the crowds, the almost cult like worship, the lavish praise, or at least it appears that way to me. As far as Steele...I never saw him as a small man, he seems pretty honest and to the point and I appreciate him saying what he means and what he thinks...he doesn't try to please everyone like some...he sees it and calls it.

I probably should have used the word class. You know, it's just something you can't teach.
