What Goes Around Comes Around........

Karma......

Let's remember the South Carolina democratic primary earlier this year.

Bill Clinton makes a statement which is taken out of context. Suddenly, Bill (and by association Hillary) is a racist or at least racially insensitive. The Obama campaign pounces on this and impunes his character. Black democrats, who prior to this primary, were more open to Hillary as a candidate, go strongly to Obama. Game over. Obama wins South Carolina (which was an extremely important race after Iowa and New Hampshire) and Obama never looked back.

Now Obama makes a statement and it gets taken out context. Of course, the McCain campaign is going to pounce on this. If the roles were reversed, Obama wound do the same. And don't tell me that Obama would take the high road and only focus on the issues, etc. And don't tell me that this is "Swift Boating". Obama already has shown he is not above swift boating..... ask the Clintons.

You reep what you sow.......

stop the presses.....the "today" show played a tape of mccain using the exact same expression as obama did. i could say this is a case of the pot calling the kettle black but then i would probably be accused of being racist by the republicans.

But McCain's delivery was a little better. Did you notice how difficult it was for Obama to get it out...not sure if he forgot the expression, as if it was planned or if it was just off the cuff - either way, he was stumbling all over it.

Thank you. McCain's memory must be short to attack someone over an expression he has used as well.

Tsk, tsk. Using the same phrase. He should have said.........
"Where lipstick is concerned, the important thing is not color, but to accept God's final word on where your lips end. " - Jerry Seinfeld

You guys must have had that second cup of coffee this morning - you're so sharp!:D

What the media has failed to report is that George Bush is a lipstick wearing pig at the trough of conservative politics. I agree fully with Obama's statement of McCain and his lipstick. 30 years in politics and NOW, he says he can change politics in Washington? That math doesn't add up and the lipstick on the pig comment rings clarity of truth. I will add that I don't think Obama will lend McCain Obama's own tube of lipstick. Regardless of who gets elected President this year, there will continue to be many pigs at the troughs in the halls of Congress.

This entire media point just shows how stupid we are to debate over a comment about hypocrisies in Washington, rather than substantial issues which face the people in this Country. Let's please discuss anything other than the real issues, because neither candidate will make a dent in the real issues, IMO. Discussing real issues, will likely offend at least 40% of the voters depending on who is stating their case. They don't talk about the issues, because they want to win the Election, not fix Washington.

What a bunch of hooey!

This nonsense is definitely turning off voters who want to hear about issues!

After the commentary about how dumb people are for voting for Palin after supporting Hilary (as their politics are completely different), I got another earful from Papa Scooterbug about the hypocrisy/double standard of it all. It's okay for people to vote for Palin because she's a woman, but the sheet would hit the industrial fan if someone wanted to NOT vote for her because she's a woman.

This is actually a common phrase in Sales & Marketing in both the US and the UK. There's nothing wrong with the phrase itself. Hence, there was no uproar when McCain used it (last year or rehashing it now).

The problem is how Obama used this phrase and the connection and connotation that he was making (either mistakenly or on purpose). One of the most famous lines from Palin's speech at the convention was the Hockey Mom/Lipstick line. It was obvious to his supporters what Obama was inferring when he used the "lipstick on a pig" phrase (they stood up, laughed and cheered) and it was obvious that the media "got it" (its been on MSNBC, CNN and Fox all morning).

The bottom line is that Obama either made a mistake or was trying to be too clever. The McCain campaign saw an openning and took it (Obama would have done the same).

The end result is that Obama wasted at least 24 or 48 hours of his campaign fending off sexism charges ...... just like Hillary wasted a lot of time in South Carolina fending off racism charges.

The McCain camp has some nerve, especially since it accused Obama of having a God complex in front of an audience of 40 million people.

Honestly I think this is another brilliant strategy. They are trying to make Obama mad, and get it on camera. The Angry Black Man after all might not play well with many voters.

I see this as a positive for Obama. Obviously he didn't mean it. This gives him an opportunity to fight back and tell the Mccain camp how full of s--- they are. OK maybe Obama should have said "you can't polish a turd" whatever. In any event, I sent an e-mail telling the Obama campaign that they won't get any more campaign money from me until he openly tells the McCain campaign to stick it where the sun doesn't shine. This is a perfect opportunity. Thank you piggys!

Considering remarks Palin has made publicly about other women in politics (that were so offensive she had to publicly apologize for them), a lipstick wearing pig is minor.
