(Why are the Brits still trying to run America?)
******************************

And to think that some people complained that the new $100 bill looked "too European."

Dowling Duncan ? a graphic design firm with offices in San Francisco and Newark, England ? thinks that American currency needs a new look, so its designers have submitted an entry in the "Dollar Rede$ign Project," which bills itself as a movement to "rebuild financial confidence and revive our failing economy" by rebranding the U.S. dollar.
Dowling Duncan's submission is a rendering that appears quite European-ish, and envisions current President Barack Obama replacing George Washington on the dollar bill. Fast Company's Suzanne LaBarre praised the Dowling Duncan design, writing, "The Obama bill anchors their sweeping concept for redesigning U.S. banknotes ... The impetus: The greenback has an image problem. It has come to represent everything that's wrong with the American economy, and worse, with its cartoonish graphics and vaguely sinister styling, it actually looks the part."

Right here!
I think european style design on the green back would be pretty cool. I sure as heck can't agree with the judges though on the design winner.

I have a batch of Dutch bills spirited away I need to frame some day. The Dutch used to have the most beautiful designs, totally out classing the current euro.

I think most old money is far cooler than today's money. I like our current bills.

And IMO you don't get to bump old historical figures off the bill for new ones.

As a Numismatist, I'm still pissed over the Eisenhower/Susan B Anthony/Sacajawea/Presidential dollar debacle.

Funny you should mention Numismatists since they are the second reason after counterfeiting that the paper and coin currency is constantly changing.

I don't agree with putting any current political figure on any money. Redesign the dollar bill all you want, but I feel that the iconic image of George Washington on it should remain.

Any thoughts on the recent tv commericals for "grand canyon scenic rare and collectible" $2 bills for the bargain price of... $30?

seems stranger than fiction marketing to me.:dunno:

It appeals to people who buy commemorative plates and limited edition drink cups.

:lolabove: and beanie babies?

My bush ninjas think it's a last ditch fund raising effort on the part of the Fed Reserve to cover their 'paper' crafting hobby

OK... time for Dune-AHH to cap the crown royal bottle and hit the hay.
