WASHINGTON - A swastika was found Tuesday painted on a sign outside Rep. David Scott's district office, an act the Georgia Democrat said reflects an increasingly hateful and racist debate over health care and should serve as a reminder for people to tone down their rhetoric.

Scott's staff arrived at his Smyrna, Ga., office Tuesday morning to find the Nazi graffiti emblazoned on a sign bearing the lawmaker's name. The vandalism occurred roughly a week after Scott was involved in a contentious argument over health care at a community meeting.

Scott, who is black, said he also has received mail in recent days that used N-word references to him, and that characterized President Barack Obama as a Marxist.

I am personally outraged! It looks like Rush Limbaugh's daily vitriole and Nazi rant has finally sunk into the thick heads of his dumb, white racist followers in both Smyrna and elsewhere. I don't mind protests, like when I was at the Chicago Democratic Convention in '68-- that was intelligent, meaningful and heartfelt protest for real change--this is torches and mass hysteria befitting a Frankenstein movie--I hope the great majority of smart and decent Americans will reject this mob mentality rule--very shameful indeed.

hnooe, if you know history at all youll know for a certainty that the political tactics of hitler are very similar to our president. the tactic, not the mass killing. i went back and listened to rush's entire sound bite and thats exactly what he was talking about. but, take olby's word for it, it's easier.

You know..it has been said on the forums before, and I have seen it all here, that the conversation usually stops dead in its tracks when Hitler is mention or used comparitively to something going on in the present day. I am not ready to believe Obama is right now setting up death camps for old people to be exterminated, or things such as that...

When Rush say it is a "tactic" just like Hitler--sorry it is not--to his unenlightened base it is "code' for" look all you other heavy set disenfranchised white dudes and gals, blackie and his latinas and latinos are pulling the plug on us guys!!:shock:. Rush Palin, and Beck speak in code to create and foment hate amongst their base, but that is only going to make them look even more clueless.

I am much more affraid of the Palinistas than the Latinas.

I watched cities near me in the NY metro area burn in the 1960's growing up, I smelled tire smoke from nearby Newark waft into my unaircondioned bed room at night. That was the legitimate battle going on back then that changed the world as we knew it, along with the anti war rallies--right now those involved in town Hall "meetings" are misdirected mobs (used by the Repubs and the Insurance industry) and it smells phoney. This will die off as quickly as all the stubborn old folks are dying off, naturally. I am looking forward to the next generation of young people to take it from here!
