Interesting thing about online communities- they are like real communities. The social dynamics are similar to real life.

In real life, if you constantly hammer at people, try to force your way into a group without going through the "getting to know you" stage, continuously annoy and insult others, pick fights, and break community and social rules, you probably will have a hard time in the community. I don't expect to fit or be accepted by every group of people I come in contact with- I kinda know who I have things in common with and who I don't. I wouldn't dream of trying to bust my way into being accepted by anyone- it's kind of a pride thing.

I'm in total agreement with everything you say here jdarg! However, it would be a lot better though, and save a lot more time in trying to determine a good social connection, if people were more forthcoming with information, say on their profiles. That way, someone who is an outsider or newbe could get a much better and quicker idea of who would be a good social match up, without trying to figure that out just from all the "back and forth" chit-chat that just occurs naturally with any group of friends, and on this virtual board as well. I have warm feelings toward several of my virtual friends here, even though I have actually met only one (I think) in real life.
