Is that as in 'one in four American citizens residing in Texas don't have health insurance' or 'one in four people who sleep in Texas on a nightly basis don't have health insurance'? The story didn't elaborate.

Although I don't know the answer to your question, let's hope the percent of folks who sleep in TX on a nightly basis is not anywhere near 25% illegal aliens.

But if we were to assume for the sake of argument that, say, 10 of every 25 per hundred were illegal immigrants, then they'd still be 15 Real Texans out of every 90 Real Texans without health insurance: that's still 17% of Real Texans without health insurance. Not a figure to be proud of. I guess essentially all Real Texans will have health insurance when all provisions of the Health Insurance Reform Act kick in.

Right here!
Clearly the NYT has made the assumption that ObamaCare was the answer to Texas's healthcare problems. Don't be fooled.

How many of you actually READ the article?

Basically Texas is pitching a fit because they have done a poor job of providing heath care for their citizens (not under the new plan, but getting health care for those previously eligible for Medicare etc.)- and it is coming home to roost.

I think any type of change is difficult and I fully expect people to complain about how hard it's going to be. With that said, 1 in 4 is a scary number. I don't expect all those people to sign up for Medicaid or Medicare though.
