Seaweed, June grass. If it's your one week and that one week the water is so full of it, you can't enjoy it....
Plus cyber bullying. Similar to road rage. Anonymous.
I would love for my one week on 30A to have the water clear and not have double red flags. That is my wish. Very simple. I will adjust and do other things, but I don't go to Florida to get in a pool.
That's great if you live there and can go all the time - whether seaweed/June grass/double red flags.
Hopefully we won't run into any of the cyber bullies. In fact, when we are in 30A, everyone is very nice.
Tired of being bullied. You can have an opinion, but I can't?
I can't wish for clear water?
Oh, and I can't comment? Just you?
It almost makes me want to head somewhere else...

Hi Ellen - I hope you have a great time at the beach. Sounds like you NEED it!

I understand about seaweed and clear water. I always try to remember what it would be like if I had one week at the beach all year - I would want it to be PERFECT.

As for opinions - we all got 'em. If someone has one that is different than yours that's cool.

Right?

(ps - I wish you hadn't mentioned June Grass. Knock on wood. We have been blissfully clear of it so far this year!)

Definitely sounds like you need a vacation UofL!

Sounds like you really hate us locals. Everyone wants their life to be perfect-especially their vacation- but come on, you can't win them all. The seaweed is a pain that comes along with it. Nature is beautiful but not accommodating. If vacationers were not so hard headed about getting in the gulf on their vacation, us locals would not have to keep feeling a loss for all the people that come here to die just because they didn't want to stay out of the water. That is my main concern I hate hearing of loses when we have a wonderful system (the flags) to help people understand the water's current mood. We all know mother nature does tend to get moody!

People vacation here because they want to be in on living here, without putting up with the stresses of living here. In all honesty this county caters much more to tourists than any other. If a tourist complains someone will listen, local...too bad get over it. I'm surprised they haven't done away with double red flags just because the tourist do not like seeing them.

On a personal note I live here and haven't been 'to the beach' to enjoy it since February. It is impossible to find parking and IF you do then you can't get a spot on the beach away from the trash cans. Locals still have to work. Most of us do not live on the beach so we are fighting to get in beach time. We pay very high prices to live in a place that is becoming more trouble than it is worse. And yes if anyone says I should move somewhere else, I am considering it. SoWal had the potential to be home but this place is going downhill very rapidly.

Life as a local is not what it used to be, vacationing here isn't what it used to be. This place has changed and I personally don't see it as better. I don't know why anyone would have been cyber bullying you, I'm sorry it happened but please don't let it ruin your vacation! You work hard to enjoy it so please do that. Just don't be hardheaded and swim if it's not safe. There are many more of us locals that will be sad to hear of ANOTHER fatality then you could ever imagine.

What? We have paradise in April and May when the visitors are not here in droves, then we have September and October! Our visitors come here in the summer when the kids are out of school, usually it is all they can swing due to scheduling. Wish everyone else was so lucky....

Ellen, Before we became residents here, we'd vacation two or three short stays a year. Sometimes it rained or was cooler than we had hoped for, but DH's philosophy was and still is, "A bad day at the beach, is better than a great day at the office." I know a lot of folks want to be on the beach every day during their vacation, but like SouthernBelle suggests, Mother Nature doesn't always allow that. Please come and enjoy your stay, whatever the conditions are, here's hoping you'll have fun.

Hum, let see, you complain about the area you have chosen to vacation in because it does not suit you due to Beach conditions being less than desirable. Do you think your the first person to ever go on vacation and have the weather not cooperate with your plans? Please quit your crying and be glad you have the oppurtunity to spend a week in a beautiful area. And be thankful that we have a flag system in place to save people like you from being a statistic. You probably consider my reply cyber bullying. Well here is another suggestion, quit logging into sowal forum if you can't stand the heat!!
