I am the one who suggested the idea. I don't mind a little painting on the ground floor. Why don't you take the scaffolding? I did fall off the 7ft ladder while stringing lights in the trees at Steeleing1's wedding. Maybe that is why my ladder is still at the Pink house -- bad ladder memories.

... and if you don't want me to paint, perhaps I could make the Margaritas for the thirsy folks passing by.

Bdarg says that you making the margeritas is a deal if you use Don Eduardo tequila!!!

Donna it sounds wonderful. I think the deal should be that whoever wins has to invite the other voters to the dinner for 8. I would settle for a glass of Napa's finest. On your recommendation of course!

Let me get this straight. You will jump out of an airplane, but you won' stand on a scaffold, paint Conch Out, and get good wine and yummy food for a prize?? You are a ding dong!

It may sound strange, but SmilingJOe is not the only one afflicted that way! Merman is a private pilot--no trouble at all flying thousands of feet above sea level, but he's afraid of heights. Go figure. When we were dating (decades ago ) I lived in this 3rd floor brownstone in Boston. It had a rickety iron balcony that you had to climb out the window to access. I loved that balcony and wanted to share it with Merman. Without saying a word, he followed me out onto it. I found out later he was afraid of heights and that's how I knew he really loved me.

TooFarTampa, you are not alone. I too am another paint junkie. I have more paint in our house than you could shake a stick at. Case in point--how many colors do I have going on in the sitting room? Hmmm, red was the original color, yellow's the color that's in the landing, pale aqua is the color I'm fiddling with, and it's been like this since the fall. I haven't decided yet and there's a fourth paint can in the basement just waiting for its chance...

Donna, I most certainly WILL be offering suggestions for your house. I might have a lot of experience in the matter.

I have the same 3 colors splashed up in rooms right now!! My goal is to make a decision by....oh fiddle. Never mind. May have to learn to live with the patchwork and hope it becomes stylish!

that is the sweetest story I've heard in a long time... merman is so cute.

anyway, Donna - I am not good at visualizing what something will look when its completed, so I've never had much talent in the paint color department, or any kind of decor. which is probably why I tend to stick with whites and earthtones. but I love the suggestions so far - it's going to be a hard decision! and the menu is divine!!!

I too am afraid of heights - but have jumped out of planes. A psychologist explained it to me that 20 feet up - you can see where you are going to land - jumping out of the plane is so high - it seems surreal. Just beautiful - not scary. My husband is always amused by this - "So you will jump out of an airplane but you don't want to come up the ladder to hand me something." He has no fear of heights at all. Maybe I will volunteer him to paint the top floor. - Nah we have too much of our own painting to do when we are on vacation down there.
