I get it! Rather than being amped up all the time, the breakers should "ohm" in on true transcendental peace. Instead if trying to get "a piece", they should be trying to get "the Peace". Right?

Having lived in Daytona Beach as a kid, I can say that Panama City is just later to the party. Daytona had these issues decades ago. Both cities are very similar. Today we have more guns, more people, more problems. Good changes will no doubt come from this chaos.

Bob, where did those people come from back in the day? My impression of the Atlantic and south Gulf coasts is that these are more draws for northerners (it may have been less so in the past) than southerners.

I would also give tremendous credit to the cell phone and social media as catalysts to out of control crowds assembling quicker than anyone in authority might be able to control them.

I am so glad that the City of Atlanta shut down FreakNik. It was like PCB with expensive cars and clothes. The FreakNikkers would get out of their cars on Peachtree Road in Buckhead and start dancing, causing massive traffic jams. Forget shopping at Lenox and Phipps due to the huge crowds and loitering. Stores just shut down. Too much theft, and the people who were there to shop couldn't shop.

Hey beach runner, I live in Atlanta and lived in Buckhead when I experienced my first Freaknik. I was excited, I loved spring break. I was working at Houston's. We ultimately had to close the restaurant - the attendees were abandoning their cars on Lenox road and refused to move them. Tow trucks couldn't even get to the sheer number of cars that were abandoned if they wanted to. We had groups of 10 and 20 coming into the restaurant, but our tables only accommodate 4 to 6 at the most. Instead of waiting to be seated, they were sitting on the floor in the aisles making it impossible for our waitstaff and our management to even get through the restaurant. We ended up having to close it down, it was a safety issue. Of course then I couldn't get home because the streets were blocked and the cars refused to move. I have got to tell you all in all it was a terrible exprience. I love a good spring break and I've been to Ft Lauderdale and Mexico, but the authorities still had control of the city on those occasions and not the spring breakers. This was an absolute nightmare.

The Bay County Sheriff's Office obtained a video from the Troy Police Department on April 2 appearing to be of a gang rape that occurred on Panama City Beach last month behind Spinnaker. The video was found by Troy Police during the course of an investigation into a shooting incident.

Officials say the video appears to be of a gang rape that occurred on Panama City Beach during spring break.

The BCSO Criminal Investigation Division was able to identify the victim in the video.

After speaking with witnesses to the incident, the sheriff's office says the incident took place sometime between March 10 and March 12 on Panama City Beach behind Spinnaker.

According to sheriff's officials, two suspects have been arrested, 22-year-old Delonte' Martistee of Bainbridge, Georgia, and 23-year-old Ryan Austin Calhoun of Mobile, Alabama.

Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen says Martistee and Calhoun attended Troy University. Martistee was a former member of the Troy track team.

Both have been charged with sexual battery by multiple perpetrators.

This investigation is ongoing. Officials say more arrests are expected. NewsChannel 7 will keep you updated as we learn more.

Wow. I don't post very often, but this is low and so disrespectful to all. What happened in PCB during this year's spring break is disgusting and hopefully being addressed so that it isn't repeated next year. I read this story and was so thoroughly disgusted. I am repulsed by your distasteful remark.
