Ok, I just read all of this and I don't quite get why you "people" all have your panties in a wad. I opened this forum because I too have wondered the same thing about the sign holders outside the outlet mall. I'm all for someone making a buck, especially in these hard times, but I'm willing to bet that there are people out there that are willing to actually work for that buck. The people outside the outlet mall don't hold the signs. They sit around in the grass, smoke cigarettes, whatever. I have seen the kids that listen to music and bee-bop back and forth while HOLDING the sign they were employed to hold. They are entertaining and much more attractive than vagabonds I see loitering outside the outlet mall.
Yes, vagabonds. That's what they look like. There IS a sign ordinance and that is why people need to be hired to hold signs. Otherwise, the company doing the advertising would just stick signs in the grass for free - but that's not allowed. My problem though, is with the company that isn't making sure the people they hired are doing their job and the officials that are supposed to uphold this ordinance. They need to be doing their job as well as the "sign holders". (I put it in quotes because technically, that's what they are called but that's not really what they are as they are not holding any signs)
Lay off Jerkdawg though. He may have a jerky way of making his point but it was a good point nonetheless. And to all of you who said things like "live in Houston" or "it's worse in other places" or whatever you said, I DON'T LIVE THERE FOR A REASON.
