I have been working in the Calloway Walmart doing my Medicare stuff for the past 3 weeks. My booth is at the end of the check outs on one side of the store. For those of you that don't know where Calloway is, it it the OTHER side of Panama City. I have had some "sitings" I could add to these pics, too.
Overall, the area is a lower socio-economic area. Many people do not have any teeth, some have a tooth and most of the ones that have nice shining smiles are usually dentures. But, the people there are genuine and it truly breaks my heart seeing some of them.
One man was passing my booth, I spoke to him asking him how he was doing - he had apparently had a stroke, walking with a problem with his right leg and his right arm was totally useless. His reply was "I am just great!" I'm thinking if this man is GREAT, I am fantastic - because looking at him, I have no problems. One lady I met yesterday is living in a hotel and has to leave next week and doesn't know where she is going. She said she never thought she would become a bag lady.
Sorry for the downer but I have a lot to be thankful for. And the medicare plan I have with United Health has a $0 monthly premium so I feel like I an really helping those that don't have anything other than Medicare or those that get Medicade.
