So my daddy told me about this free Google Software for picture editing. Picasa 3.6 is amazing. It literally took me 3 minutes to download the software and start using it. You can color correct, do red-eye removal and a lot of other things with it. You can also use it to share your photos with friends and families as well. I use Photoshop at work, but I needed something here at home to use. I can't wait to play with it some more. Try it out and let me know what you think!

ha! can't believe you just posted this as I've been sitting on my computer all night using Picassa, downloading a ton of baby pix of my 8 year old finally trying to get some of these in order, printed and in albums.

I've used Picasa forever. Its pefect for my personal use. easy as ever, and you set up albums for any photos, edit, upload to your google photos, email photos directly from Picasa, etc. here are some other neat and very easy things I like:

a click will copy a photo to another album (or project of photos) you are putting together, to your screensaver or upload to google photos online.

create photo collage using your selected photos - quickly, and then rearrange according to different patterns, etc.

order prints and a lot of other products

post photos to your blog via blogger (I am not into this one but I know many are)

create a movie presentation with your selection of photos set to music - and this time its actually EASY and wonderful.

Geo-tag - or place pictures on google earth. I haven't tried this yet but I need to!

KathyD - you're gonna like it a lot. I fired photoshop. don't need it. but picassa has a lot of stuff I DO need!

Picasa is great. I've been using it for years. Just so you know how it works, though, you can edit photos easy as pie, but...but...it doesn't change the file unless you save it as a new file or copy. Picasa tracks the changes that you make (at least it used to) in a separate file. You can see the file it creates in your folder on your computer. As long as you look at them, print from, etc from Picasa it looks like everything takes, but if you open the file with another image program, you won't see the changes unless you have saved them to a new file.

Just a friendly heads up!

I use Picasa & Picnic for quick/silly editing and Lightroom for the serious stuff.

I've also been having fun with TiltShift image editing on my iPhone.

C2F - good tip. Does Lightroom have a free download compatible with Mac? Picasa doesn't do anything more complex than the IPhoto file/edit program that came pre-loaded on my Mac.

I downloaded GIMP but have found it to be less than stellar/user friendly with Mac.
I had to download some goofy Windows X program in order to run it & I think the double download made GIMP... uber-gimpy.
I'm just spinning in circles with it. :dunno:
