Scooty,
I'm curious if you experience the same batch of repeat offenders (or is it typically different folks/dogs)?

The reason I ask: I'm trying to get a handle on whether face-to-face-address with people (and animals) about inappropriate behavior produces any measurable degree of positive results?

BTW - I'm also conducting this research project in my own household... and the gatos ARE included .

Hard to say, as it's hard to catch the offenders in action, but seems to be a different person each time.

On some level that might indicate positive effect (or a really extensive collection of perp/poop disguises )

I think it has far more to do with how little time I spend staring out my kitchen window. There could be a regular crowd of 15 for all I know.

It would seem that on the beach it is different people and dogs at different times. The other day, I watched one owner allow his dog to poop and then the owner took his foot and covered it up with our pristine sand. What an utter slob! People want to use our beaches to walk their dogs but some have absolutely no responsiblity or respect for beach upkeep.

I am tired of picking up poop also when it is all over and no one seem to care but me, but I do it anyway. I walked my usual walk past someone's house one day and some man started yelling about me about not picking up the poop in his yard. My dog was not pooping and I pulled a bag out and said I pick mine up. I was so angry at him for yelling at me for what other's do or do not do. I ALWAYS pick it up even if it is from my chihuahua. The day he yelled at me I was walking two big dogs as I did on a pretty regular basis so he just assumed it was me. It really is disgusting in this beautiful place when you see DOG POOP all over. I don't care who you are, tourist or especially a resident of the community, no one wants dog poop in their yard so they can step in it and it STINKS. YUCK! I think the stands would be great. Occassionally I forget a bag and if a stand is around I take one from it. I am always finding poop bags in my coat pockets (unused of course) so I usually have another if I forget. I have washed them on occasion forgetting they were in a pant pocket - no harm done there. No pocket? Carry a fanny pack with treats, key, cell phone and poop bags. That is what I do a lot. Thanks for listening to my little tirade. PICK UP THE POOP PEOPLE. No one likes to do it but lfe is full of unplesant things we have to do we may not necessarily like to do.

Heartbren, I can sympathize with you about getting yelled at. We have a chihuahua too and we always clean up when we walk her. One night she had gone by some mailboxes and we were using a flashlight to see where to clean up. Apparently a woman staying halfway down the block was watching and thought we were doing something to one of the mailboxes. She came out in the street and screamed at us that if we did not clear the area she was going to call the sheriff on us. She finally stopped and went back inside once we explained what we were doing and she realized that we lived next door to the house where she was staying. It was not a fun experience.

 I only laugh at this because it is so hard to find any poop at night much less a chihuahua's. You can barely see it in the daytime it is so little, but we pick it up anyway. So the people with BIG DOGS that make BIG POOP should really pick up their's. There is no excuse as people say. Tie it on a leash or get something that clicks onto the leash for bags. Solutions are everywhere, people are just lazy or think it is gross as we all do, but we do it anyway. I gave a lady a bag one day when I saw her dog pooping off leash and she never picks it up. She looked at me and threw the bag in the trash and left the poop. Nice huh? Maybe they think their dog's poop does not stink!:funn:Have a great day everyone and pick up that poop.
