They have been open for a few days now - a quiet opening to work out the kinks. We went last night and they were quite busy. I have no doubt they will be successful because of the location, the attention to detail, and the fine food. Several people commented that prices were reasonable. Delivery may be offered in the future but I'm guessing eat in and pick up will keep the kitchen busy enough.

The menu is well rounded with a couple of appetizers, lots of toppings for 12" or 16" build your own pies, 10 pre-configured pizzas (including "Rabbit Food, Doggie Breath, & Quadruple Bypass), 4 salads, sandwiches and calzones, and "nearly as sweet as Swaisie" desserts. There is also a nice selection of domestic and imported beers and wines.

We had a margherita, cheese, and sausage & mushroom - all good with excellent dough and crust. The service was excellent and the pies came in a short amount of time. It is a very cute place as you would expect if you've ever been to "Movies By The Sea" next door - Bryan & Stacy have done a great job with it. Pizza and a movie - what a concept! "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was playing silently on the big screen and we enjoyed watching a bit of it.

Here's an excerpt from Bryan from a few days ago I don't think he'll mind if I post:
Pizza by the Sea very quietly unlocked it's doors last night and had a very light, but encouraging first day of business. Please forgive my secrecy over the past weeks about when our opening would occur. After being in the restaurant business for many years and opening several stores I have learned that being busy on your first night or even your first week can be difficult. Since the entire staff is new, busy shifts in the beginning can yeild less than favorable service and products. It can take a long time to overcome people's first impression if it is not good. I hope to slowly build momentum by making perfect pizzas for each and every customer.

About our little shop: We are making each pizza by hand from the absolute best ingredients we can find. No shortcuts are taken. Many places cook on screens or par-bake but we believe that baking fresh dough directly on the pizza stone is the only way to get an authentic pie. Oh, and the cheese...there is no better cheese than the one we have chosen. <brand edited out> is the industry leader and I think we are the only ones in the area using it (it is pricey). We know that making the pizza this way takes longer...we have decided we would rather have people wait for a good pie than be disappointed with our products. You and your websites have been so supportive to Stacy and Me thus far and it is so much appreciated. We hope to build a reputation based on quality at Pizza by the Sea that keeps everyone coming back for more.

I ate there last night, too. Location is key for Pizza By the Sea. In no more than 30 minutes, we saw people come in to pick up 20 pizzas. They were going out the door, 3-4 pizzas at a time. I think their close proximity to WaterColor, Seaside, Seagrove, Pt Washington will make it a successful venture. Place your order, shop for groceries next door, stop back by and pick up dinner.

The restaurant is nothing fancy, but still feels comfortable, and a place where kids are welcome. Pizza is good, especially if you like it cheesy. Prices are very reasonable, thankfully. Timeliness is also good. Counter service and self serve sodas help keep it simple and cost effective. Plenty of selections of beer and wine, with a bottle of wine starting at $15. That is the price of a glass of wine at many places. I think the majority of their pizza business will be take out.
