MSNBC reported a few minutes ago that the president and Sasha had just taken a swim in the gulf at Panama City Beach.

Is it just me or is this headline a complete piece of crap?

President Obama won't take shirt off in front of cameras to swim in oil-ravaged Gulf waters

The leader of the free world's eye-candy abs are off limits to the public.

President Obama vowed to take a swim in the oil-soaked Gulf on Sunday but out of sight from the press and shutterbugs.

oil-ravaged? oil-soaked? That really helps a lot.

CNN says it was Alligator Point- which on my map, is more like St Andrews Bay/Grand Lagoon. Not exactly the Gulf, sort of in protected waters.

No, you're right, the gulf is the gulf and the bay is the bay. Also that would be Panama City, not Panama City Beach.

I'd call that Panama City Beach - isn't everything west of the Hathaway Bridge PCB? Or does Panama City include that part of the beach?

At any rate, we have our answer - no, the Obamas will not swim in the Gulf.

Can you just imagine how much "fun" it is to go on vacation in Florida and have absolutely everybody in the free world waiting for you to take your shirt off, show off your beer gut, and pose for possibly the worst photo of all time: it's rainy, it's Alligator Point, it's 90% humidity... if he can get thru this "vacation" with a scrap of dignity, he deserves a week in Martha's vintyard.
