Tell me twatters. Who are these random people who sign up to follow you, who follow like 2300 people? Are they twitter sluts like facebook and myspace sluts? Are they in a race? Do you get twit points if you win?

How great would it be to get tweets when there is an alligator in the surf, or when a dune lake opens?

Very good. I am trying to get the DFSPD to set up an account for things in town. As soon as the Sheriff gets the EOC set up, I am going to get with them to set it up for weather information in Walton County, road closings, things of that nature.

If SWFD had been set up, what a great way to let people know that they need to evacuate or where all the smoke is coming from.

Like anything, people tend to abuse it, but there is a useful purpose once the new wears off. And it is such a great open source program to play with. Like the guy who has his plants tweet him when they need water, or the college kid who has the dorm dryer set to tweet him when his clothes are ready.

They just want to see how many friends they can get. You also can sign up to a program and end up following a bunch of people. At one time I was following a couple of hundred until I realized how useless that was, now I am down to around 50 or so. And many will not follow you unless you follow them.
