and mermy! why don't we have a fantastic soup recipe thread going with your best recipes??? I love good soup in the winter, and just about any time. :D

Tootsie, jdarg is being a cheeky gull. I sent her a PM last Thursday about this curried carrot soup I was making. I had it simmering on the stove and forgot to turn it off while Merman and I went to a party that evening. There was an open bar and an amazing band and you can guess the rest. :D By the time we got home the soup was still simmering and the house stunk like a curry joint. :sosad: It was even worse than the time I went out dancing in my college years and forgot the turkey in the oven...at least turkey smells nice when you come back hours later.

However! I do make very good soup (when I stay home to watch it) so seeing that winter's here, I'll start a thread tomorrow!

I see! so did you never even think about it when you were out? you know how sometimes you can wonder, "did I turn the stove off?".

the other day I had lunch with some girls at Fabrice. We had the best butternut squash soup. It had chunks of potatoes, and curry, and it tasted like coconut milk but the chef said it wasn't - but he did say it had cinnamon. The french chef, Fabrice himself, said this to me when I jokingly asked him for the recipe... "come by this afternoon and I will give you the recipe..."... in a very frenchy man voice, you know, pick up line... we died laughing. so now I have the recipe and here it is... just kidding, I don't.
