Right here!
Look at all the condemns, deplores, censures, strongly deplores, regrets, and demands in this list. These guys have been bad boys, just look at this rap sheet. I say we nuke em. Besides they wouldn't join the coalition of the willing and they attacked one of our war ships in the past so they can't be our friends. Let's rid the world of them and plant some date palm orchards.:D

It still kills me that people act like Bush didn't screw up our response to 9/11. I don't remember Pearl Harbor, Andy A.? That was the largest attack on the US in history until 9/11. It was also primarily military targets. I'm not saying that changes anything, but during war military and civilian targets have generally been viewed as different. The US's response was to absolutely and completely beat the aggressor into the ground. Fast forward to 9/11/01. Now it is a civilian target and almost 1,000 additional lives are lost. Our Commander in Chief during this decides to go after those responsible and in the process and close to capturing the ultimate head of this attack he changes course and turns the pursuit over to War Lords. Cut the NATO crap, the US hired Afghan War Lords to finish the job and US forces were diverted to a non-threat. The fact that this person is still alive and free is an absolutely disgusting insult to those that lost their lives on 9/11. Can anyone name any other foreign terrorist that has remained at large as long as Osama Bin Laden?

If you have ever studied war, you would know nothing has changed. The side that fights a 'civilized war', looses.

Your response to SWGB's post makes absolutely no sense. I believe the point he is making is you don't subcontract your wars, unless you're this admin. and then you subcontract everything. Getting close to your objective with the best trained and motivated military in the world and then turning the battle over to soldiers for hire has to be one the biggest blunders in the history of warfare.
But I will admit I have been to war, just never studied it.

I have no idea what your so called theory is so I'll skip over that. Why does it have to be a local? Anyway, you will need to ask Bush about an overseer since he made the promise not me.

My theory was that the folks here clamoring to give billions of dollars to the City of New Orleans knew absolutely nothing about the City but carried a self-assured contrary belief that they did based primarily upon having been drunk on Bourbon Street and meeting so many interesting people and hating Bush. Case closed.

How much has the fed govt given to NO?

How much has been spent to rebuild infrastruture, homes, etc?

Where is the rest of the money?

Well let me reopen your case. I'm not clamoring to give billions of dollars to anyone. George W. Bush made a promise to the citizens of New Orleans and why should it not be kept? New Orleans and its people are part of the USA.
I would hope when a disaster of this magnitude strikes anywhere in our country the Federal Govt. which is after all "We the People" will step forward and do all it can to put the lives of its citizens back as close to normal as possible. After all the natural disasters in all the years in the history of our Nation where the Fed has stepped forward to help in the rebuilding, why do some think New Orleans is less deserving and should be ignored? New Orleans should be a National Treasure.
I also don't think it's fair to accuse me being drunk on Bourbon street since all I can remember is having a good time until people began stepping on my hands and bumping into my head with their knees.
Your accusation of me hating Bush is untrue. I hate many of the decisions he has made and think he is a terrible leader but I don't hate him or anyone. In fact I would love to meet him some day, I find him to be a fascinating and complex individual.

My experiences with New Orleans afford me broad license to point out how foolish it is to want to dump billions of dollars into the City. When someone here other than me has been asked for 30 million to place some commemorative plaques in the City's sidewalk, their opinion about what the taxpayer should or should not spend in New Orleans might matter. Sometimes it takes a butt head to keep people from being duped.
