Sowal is in Agreement!! Wahoo~~~~~~~~~~that's always a good day!

I don't understand how we got to the point we are at with regard to long range public transportation. I spent considerable time in Europe and they are miles and miles ahead of us in public transportation. I was stationed in both Great Britain and Germany and used their rail transportation in both countries. It was unparalleled. This was in the 1950s and 60s. I can only imagine what it is today. Everything you say is absolutely true, SB44.
Especially since the private sector has done such of whiz-bang job of managing the assets they currently oversee.Personally I would prefer they privatise it, but there are so many special interests latched into Amtrak that that will likely never happen.

You're clearly misquoting a very small subset of private businesses (banks) and using that to claim all private businesses are bad at managing assets / running profitable businesses. There are countless examples of how private businesses operate more efficiently than government. If you really want the feds to run our transportation system, be prepared to pay through the nose for it, because they couldn't manage a McDonalds without losing money hand over fist.Especially since the private sector has done such of whiz-bang job of managing the assets they currently oversee.![]()
You may be right, and a monkey may fly out of my rear.
