Is the reason GW didn't use teleprompters because he couldn't read?

Finally, GW talks to school children - largest terrorist attack ever on US soil. Obama talks to school children - conservatives wig out over use of teleprompters.

Personally I'll take teleprompters.

Maybe teleprompters are in reality anti-terrorist devices.

Blue Mtn Beach!!
Guess I'm dumber than both of them - I always thought those were sound baffles, not teleprompters. Guess I have always been more focused by what he actually says and does, not his accessories.

LOL I used to think they were bullet shields! :rotfl: Kinda small though.....

There are those who want President Obama to fail at everything...and some of them will do anything to assist that failure.

i so agree with you. i've never seen anything like it. from day one of his inauguration, obama has been attacked for trying to correct so much of the mess that was created the last eight years. i don't care whose party, bank, etc., created it...there is plenty of blame to go around, but for goodness sake, give the guy a chance!! i think most of it is just the very far right being poor sports and a nice touch of racism to go with it. i also think obama has tried to fix too much too quickly, which is causing him to lose support from some in his own party and many independents. bush got 8 years to do his thing...can't we give obama at least one term??? he will not be able to please everyone...of course, there are so many factions on both sides, so he will just have to make decisions and live with them, and not have to apologize for it.

as for the health care reform, i'm all for it but like most of the people i know, we all agree he needs to slow down and focus more on creating jobs. if you don't have a job, you can't afford healthcare, and we all know the health care bill will not provide you with free healthcare!!

Right here!

I think Obama's first year (he's assured three more) seems pretty typical, I don't think anyone is over or under criticizing him. He's made a lot of policy decisions in the last year, many of them very contentious, particularly the bailouts and the much maligned stimulus which seemed to be miss targeted by Congress.

I remember Bush's first year, he received quite a shellacking for policy and playing too much golf. :D Clinton was heavily criticized for trying to do too much while ignoring the economy in the middle of a mild economic downturn, and I remember Reagan getting positively hammered for two years for puting Volker in charge at the FED (Volker raised interest rates to all time highs in order to fight inflation) during a major economic meltdown. Lets face it, being President is not an easy job, especially during hard times.

I think most of animosity right now is directed at the entrenched interests in Congress (represented by Reid and Pelosi) and the fact that Obama doesn't seem to be reeling those characters in when he promised he would. That to me is sound criticism and hopfully the fire it generates under his backside will get him to do something about it. Sure enough if he doesn't, the voters will.

I take it back, after watching the clip that was played on the Daily Show I can see that most of you are not only misled, but self-deluded. There are 6th graders in the audience. I was only guessing when I posted look left and read, look right and read; but there it is on the clip from Daily Show and Jon Stewart mocks it with perfection. I might have to start watching again, though I haven't since college You are all so very blinded when you claim its only right-wing bloggers poking fun at this, when The Daily Show is also making the same points. I guess Jon Stewart is now a tea-bagger as well.

I realize this is probably a complete waste of time, but I feel its important that the real story is given for those interested in knowing. too bad people are all too willing to waste so much time on such negative non-issues.

this is what Minnie provided to us early on...
Here's what is true. Obama did bring teleprompters along for his Jan. 19 visit to Graham Road Elementary School in Falls Church, Va. They were set up in a classroom where the president made a statement to reporters about expanding his Race to the Top program to improve schools. That happened after he chatted with the sixth-graders in a separate classroom -- with no teleprompters.

President Barack Obama and Education Secretary Arne Duncan visited students in Falls Church, Va., Jan. 19 ...

The White House Press Office told AOL News on Monday -- and photos confirm -- that there were two separate events in different rooms. Here's how The Financial Times' Anna Fifield described the visit in her pool report:

If you think about it, we might have all been better off, if President Bush had used a teleprompter!
