I have to agree with jdarg.......blow up Nativity scene beats a giant homer any day!!!! at least they realize the reason for the season ;-)

I just see it as the one time of year you can get away with putting a giant, inflatable Homer in your yard. I honestly think its fun to ride around town and take a gander at the seasonal yard art.

-And no, I don't have a huge Homer in my yard. But my house does resemble a Las Vegas casino.

Its a free world baby...decorate any way you choose!!!!!! I guess it really dosen't matter what anybody thinks!!!!! :D I shouldn't say too much here....people get freaked out when they come to my house this time of year, but it has more to do with the deer hanging in the garage!!!!!

I hear ya! Y'all have monster deer up there.

I just like to ride the little man around town this time of year. He loves it.

"He loves it." AND so do you. That's the beauty of having small children at Christmas, we get to see Christmas again, through their eyes. :clap_1: Even tacky decorations can become WOW!

people up here seem to love the blow ups--the latest is a giant globe with snow inside (like the old fashioned snowglobes)--its an enormous thing on the yard, and actually difficult to see as you drive by. But we have every matter of blow up imaginable plus lights that are too tacky to be believed. (One neighborhood draws cars from all over the capital district).

But a blowup nativity scene?? wow, haven't seen that!

Walton Undercurrent--that was the best thing I've read yet on the nativity scenes. Its actually far too cold in upstate NY for live scenes--and even giant scenes of plastic characters are likely to be buried in snow (no sensible Mary would sit out in the snow with her baby half nekked anyway!.

We actually have live nativity's here in the Chgo. burbs but I think they are heavily dressed underneath their shepherd garb, plus I imagine they switch off and have a new "cast" come in.
Besides, whenever there's been plastic nativities, someone always steals Baby Jesus and the crib!

Okay, here's the best one yet. Someone in our neighborhood dragged out their great big inflatable St. Patrick's Day leprechaun and tied a red scarf around its sorry neck in an attempt to make it Christmassy. I tell you, Merman and I never laughed so hard! It's hilarious.
