PU stinky sewage!

is it just me or what's the deal with the sewage smell around the publix mall in sandestin. it's VILE. what is that?

There is a sewage treatment plant there. I don't know if it's common to smell it there or not.

the wind must be blowing from the west. There is an open air treatment station is located on Geronimo St, quite a bit further down the road. Or, maybe the scent from the collection of Port-o-Johns from the construction area next door was lingering over the Publix area.

In the figure, Publix is the building to the right and the Sewage treatment plant is to the upper left (with the two dark circles).

It sounds like something upset the treatment plant process. It will get better as the system readjusts.

Thanks for the pic, bdarg. Any idea why they have two treatment centers so close? There is another one just past the Factory Stores.

Maybe different utility companies? I'm not sure where the boundary for Regional and South Walton Utilities is. Anybody know?

I bet you are right. I think Regional stops around Mack Bayou. So maybe that station at Publix services Regional's west end, and the one at Miramar Bch Rd services the eastern end of South Walton Util. ???

thanks for the info though i'm not sure i feel better knowing what it is...
the only time i ever smelled something like that was passing a homeless shanty in the subway in nyc. well i guess sandestin finally has something in common with a great tourist destination...just not the right thing
