Anyone have a pub table in their home or know someone who does? I am looking for a dining set and found a pub table I liked. One question I have "Is it too high for older people and do folks mind the feet dangling or resting on the bar of the chair?" Any info helps as what I purchase I will have for a while.

We have one in our basement next to our pool table. My in-laws don't mind it. They say its's easier to get up and down from a higher chair than to stand up from a regular height chair. However, my dad had many operations on his hip and knee. He had a problem with it. Of course the same could be said for any chair he sat in. I hope this hasn't confused the issue.

When I sat on it in the store, I thought it pretty comfy. You gave exactly what I need....honest info. It is the first table I have found that I really like that is not ridiculously expensive. It is a little trendy, but the wood is a flat cherry which I like.....not the shiny kind of wood.

I love them - but my mom has a problem getting up high enough to sit in them. She has the same problem getting in our truck.

Funny you should ask that question now. I just had the legs on my pub table and 8 chairs cut off to normal size because the novelty wore off. I'm 5'6" tall, but I got tired of my legs dangling. Even though I was able to rest my feet on the bottom bar that goes across the chair, my legs eventually got tired of being in that position. We purchased the pub table and chairs about 3 years ago because I loved the look, and the table has a built-in extension that turns it from a rectangle to a large perfect square. I was ready to deep-six the set until my carpenter son suggested shortening the legs.

Even my 6'2" sons say it's more comfortable now.

I always feel right at home perched on my pub chair. :D Maybe I'm spending too much time bellied up to the bar. :dunno:

IWIWT, I think the idea of cutting the legs off is an excellent idea. Especially if you really love the set. I'd try the high top for a while though and see how you like it before you commit to cutting.

Sounds like a plan....I think the lure is that it is different. I also found a wonderful round table this afternoon. Now I have to decide shape. Also, the second store has the same pub table $700 dollars less. :clap_1: It pays to look around.
