[h=3]WALTON COUNTY TO HOST TWO RIBBON CUTTINGS AND INTRODUCE COUNTY’S NEW EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DIRECTOR[/h] WALTON COUNTY TO HOST TWO RIBBON CUTTINGS AND INTRODUCE COUNTY’S NEW EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DIRECTOR

The Walton County Board of County Commissioners will be hosting two Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies on Tuesday, April 28th following the regularly scheduled board meeting. In addition, the Board of County Commissioners will be introducing the County’s new Emergency Management Director.

EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER AND NEW EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DIRECTOR

Following the board meeting, the Board will host the Re-opening and Ribbon Cutting ceremony for the newly renovated Emergency Operations Center that is located in the Governor’s Northwest Florida bunker. The facility is located at 75 S. Davis Lane in DeFuniak Springs.

During the ceremony, the County will welcome Jeff Goldberg as the County’s new Emergency Management Director. Prior to joining Walton County, Mr. Goldberg held previous positions as the Planning Manager with the Palm Beach County Division of Emergency Management, the Emergency Management Director for the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. and worked for a number of Emergency Management consulting companies both pre and post 9/11. Mr. Goldberg is a Florida Master Instructor, Certified Homeland Security Professional, an accomplished and nationally recognized speaker with over 30 years in the emergency management and holds a Florida Professional Emergency Manager Certification.

About the Bunker
The bunker has been completely redesigned and will house the Walton County Emergency Operations Center and will also continue to serve as a secure location for both the Governor and state Emergency Management officials.
The $385,000 renovation included the following:
• State of the Art Technology Upgrades include 65” HD TVs, Smart Board Technology and Full Internet Capability
• Separate Media Room
• Communications Office
• Multiple Staff Offices
• Large Lounge
• Full Restroom Facilities

In addition, the facility can now serve as a multi-functional training lab for the County.

NEW UNITED FIRE STATION
Following the ceremony at the Emergency Operations Center, the Board will host a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new United Fire Station located at 7363 US Hwy 331 South in DeFuniak Springs.
The new United Fire Station was moved from its previous location at 4175 US Hwy 331 South due to the current construction widening project on US Hwy 331 from the north shore of the Choctawhatchee Bay to Interstate 10.
The land where the new station has been built is sub-leased from the State of Florida and the construction was funded using the monies received from the Florida Department of Transportation for the purchase of the old United Fire Station property.

We look forward to the opportunity to share these new facilities with the media and the public.

Based on how they are going after Bag by, in about a year, some over paid, under performing employee will make up sexual harassment claims against him...

Just like Halfhill.

New leadership quickly finds the problems that have plagued Walton County.
