If pro and con are opposites, wouldn't the opposite of progress be congress?

I concur that progress is opposite of Congress. :D

Being Southern to the core, I know of the many nuances of "y'all". Given that it's similar to "ain't", I don't know if there is a "right way" to spell it, but I'll bow to your grammatical interpretation.....excepting that I retain rights to the use of the plural "y'all's" at my discretion, since it demonstrates the possessive form of "y'all" more correctly IMHO than "all y'alls".

Use it at your discretion, but on behalf of the Southern Populace, I encourage you to be grammatically correct with our standard slang......you don't want to appear to be a dumbass, do you? :D

Actually you are both wrong.
First with the spelling of the slang contraction for you all. That would be y'all because you are shortening Ya. It is a backwards contraction. The full spelling would be Ya all and does not need an apostrophe.
Now if you want everyone to come then all ya all or all y'all would be correct.
If you are discussing the possessions of everyone then that would be all ya all's or all y'all's. Either way is proper. :rotfl:

Can y'all tell that I don't want to do any of the work or chores laid out before me today.

This is correct. Wahoo~~~~~~

MEEEE-YOW, Y'ALL!

DD- Does your employer really not mind your using up all those brain cells on this stuff before you get to work? I feel like I put in a full morning just reading your posts! (maybe I can use some of this to get OUT of work.... ask the arm rest question in a meeting and swiftly exit the room....)

It's All Y'all!

All's I know is that when I drink vodka, I get hammered as hail, but I never have a hangover. :D

Yep, that Kinky.

Oh, now that I thinks about it, I guess I should have clarified that. Sometimes, I just think you know what I am talking about. :dunno:

Jesus, how many times do we have to debate this? The term "y'all" is a contraction for "you all." Because the letters "ou" are omitted, the term becomes "y'all." It's like the other grammatical error that drives daughter and me crazy, i.e., when people use "it's" instead of "its," or vice-versa. "It's" is a contraction of "it is," so the comma replaces the omitted "i." The word "its" is a possessive pronoun.

Bottom line: ya'll is just plain wrong.

No Sh*t! I guess we have to post this onct a quarter for the newbies~~~~:D BTW, it's an apostrophe, not a comma in it's.
