My son's flights were cancelled on account of weather in Atlanta. He is now booked out of Pensacola tomorrow. I've never used that airport. Can anyone tell me the best route from Grayton Beach? Thanks!

I used Pandora's Restaurant as a landmark.

Start out going NORTH on DEFUNIAK ST/CR-283 toward CR-30A. Continue to follow CR-283.
Turn LEFT onto US-98 W/FL-30 W.
Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto US-331 N/FL-83 N.
Merge onto I-10 W via the ramp on the LEFT toward PENSACOLA.
Take the US-90 exit, EXIT 17, toward PENSACOLA.
Turn LEFT onto US-90/SCENIC HWY/FL-10A.
Turn LEFT onto E OLIVE RD/CR-290.
Turn LEFT onto N 9TH AVE/CR-289.
Turn LEFT onto AIRPORT BLVD.
End at 2430 Airport Blvd # 225 Pensacola, FL 32504

It states that it takes 1 and 45 minutes, but I would leave extra early just in case of traffic.

My iphone gps was telling me to take 98 all the way west. Is that still possible, and if so, is it worth it for the scenery?

When I lived in Miramar Beach I drove 98 all the way to Pensacola and got off at the 9th avenue exit stayed on that for awhile then made a right onto Airport Blvd which runs right into the airport.

No problems taking 98 west all the way across. (Unfortunately, you're about 4 days too early to take the soon-to-reopen beach road between Navarre Beach and Pensacola Beach which is, IMO, by far the prettiest road in the area)

The only problem with 98 is that rush hour traffic, particularly around the Hurlburt Field gate, can be really bad. If you'd be driving during rush hour (call it 7:00-9:30am and about 3:00-6:00pm) give yourself some extra time.

I'd take 98 to Pensacola, cross the Pensacola Bay Bridge, get in right lane, take 110 Freeway north, take Brent Street Exit (about 5 min.), turn right, turn left on 9th (You'll see Mall). Turn right on Airport Blvd. Travel time about 2 hours either way you go. Try to avoid rush hours. Watch out for school zones in Mary Esther (speed zone 35 mph for just a few miles), Navarre, Gulf Breeze. Heads up on Hurlburt work hours. I like going this way. If you do go up to I-10, then you'll turn south on 110 and then turn onto Brent that way. You might go 9th, more lights, etc. Sometimes I take the Scenic Highway along the Bay from either 98 or I-10. Summit and Langley both go to 9th and airport. If you get there early, there are lots of cool history and art museums in downtown Pensacola, etc.

98 all the way. I've been both ways. Even with traffic 98 is better. I-10 takes you way north of the airport...

The biggest problem with taking 98 is the possibility of an accident (or two, or three) backing up the entire works--not good if you're trying to catch an airplane.

I'd suggest they leave soon enough to arrive with about 2-3 hours of wiggle room on the other end. That way, if they don't hit any snags, they can always have breakfast or lunch in P'cola before catching the flight.

If there is a major accident on 98 that requires a life-flight landing, combined with work and school traffic, one can easily spend 4-6 hours backed up on 98.

Thank you for all of the info. His flight is around 4:30 and I would love to leave early and explore a little, late lunch or views, or shopping, or old Florida experiences.
