What a dip$4!t. These ideological purists need to stay out of politics. These extreme libertarians are too naive to be taken seriously. He would repeal part of the 1964 civil rights act that forces establishments like restaurants and stores to desegregate. His argument is that since they are pirvate institutions they should be allowed to be as discriminatory as they please. Don't forget, this whack job wants to privatize EVERYTHING!

Methinks he needs a quick history lesson that includes Plessy v. Ferguson and it's overwhelmingly negative effects.

update: His attempts to spin this as "liberals smearing me" are going over like a lead balloon. Didn't help that he said similar things on NPR and specifically addressed ADA as well.

Which boiled down to: "Just give the guy in the wheelchair the office on the first floor instead of spending the extra money to put in an elevator."

So it looks like Paul has no problem erasing any progress that's been made since the Civil Rights Act. Oh, and he uses some really idiotic gun carrying argument. And he's the poster child for teabaggery!

update:The wheelchair argument was the least wacky thing he said.

According to Paul, desegregation was just some 45 year old Cinderella story. He thinks it's time for the coach to turn back into a pumpkin.

Yes--I guess there are even somewhat bright people in the racist Tea Party Movement.:dunno:

oh..and I am sure NOW, since he is a total Tea Partier, he will totally change his former stance on the immediate withdrawal of U.S troops from Iraq and Afganistan.

Politicians...all birds of a feather.

Probably not a dpsh(*

Probably just confused; probably not ignorant of the law as you all seem to be. It matters not whether the business/club, etc. is publicly or privately owned-it matters whether it is OPEN to the public. While the Act settled the matter as to lunch counters, and other PUBLIC businesses, the issue of private clubs has not been so settled and PLENTY of people(including me) believe you should be able to associate with whomever you want.

Libertarians are not that bad except on foreign policy issues where they just fail.

Rant Paul is talking about the lunch counter at Walgreens. That's not not a public business.
