Smartwool socks are the key - they are wool socks that don't itch and they come in all sorts of crazy colors and thicknesses. If your feet are warm, the rest of you will be warm.

You get the thick ones for wearing outdoors/sports and the thin ones to wear inside with dress shoes.

I have been shopping like mad. Shopping for myself I will admit is funn, but shopping for the kids is stressful, with the assorted fall clothes and deep winter clothes and hats and gloves etc. What is intimidating is the need to have the windbreaker, the raincoat, the fall jacket, the late fall jacket, the WTH-did-I-get-into winter coat, all the cardigans, scarves, boots and OH! The fleece. Can't forget the fleece.

And long underwear. Flannel jammies and sheets. A snowblower.

As I said, help.

yes, you have much to do. what a change in lifestyle. but I bet its going to be really wonderful, even in the cold! I would love to do it myself, even for just a little while.

you are so right about the feet! cold feet = cold everything.

I would definitely get into boots, scarves and funky warm hats!
