Right here!
LOL for the first time I realized that your profile name is 30a - shopper - I thought it was hopper and I always pictured a grasshopper :D:D

I'd like to thank you for filling me in on how you see the plan. It helps me to get an understanding of why people object or think the plan isn't the best idea.

I gotta run but I'll look at this later - and thanks again

I'm a shop-a-holic, and I drink too many martinis to boot.

Actually I'm a little less weirded out about this plan after digging into it to understand it. Really, it's just a big tax to pay for healthcare for people who can't aford it or can't get it, with a whole lot of government regulation mixed in. Generally speaking though, it's not the end of our private system of insurance.

All I'm interested in doing is being able to have some medical care if I need it and NOT go broke.
Why does an MRI cost $4000? Sure the machine is expensive, but the techs aren't paid over $30.00 an hour
why are some drugs $1000 a dose?
Health care is run like a business without competition. I don't think the Gov't will be good doctors but something has to be done so normal working people can get normal problems fixed at a price they can afford.

By the way I've already seen all those headlines in the US. WE do not have the best health care system in the world, and our prices prove it. It's got plenty of its own built in buracracy already.
There is no reason that hospial stays are completely impossible without insurance. The prices can be made to be affordable.

I'm a simple mind and don't claim to know anything about insurance, but isn't the reason Hospitals charge so much BECAUSE of insurance? I mean, like Matt said, why does an MRI cost $4000.00? Why is a bed-pan $50.00/day and you may not even use it? An aspirin, 15.00?
If costs were "real" most every American could afford at least basic care. I just don't get it (literally).

MRI's are expensive because the scanners are expensive to purchase, and they are also very expensive to operate. It's not a situation where you buy it and then it doesn't cost you anything to use. Did you know the magnets in MRI machines are super cooled?

Some drugs cost a lot becuase they are extremely expensive to develop and are used to treat very rare ailments.
