Howdy-

I'll have a family of 14 staying christmas week in Seagrove - anyone have any recommendations of where to go for a good Christmas Day Brunch/Buffet?

Thanks!

Are there any places even open on Christmas Day? I thought that was the one day most places close. Even MacDonalds closes on Christmas Day!

I'd go to Publix and stock up and spend the morning cooking. I highly doubt you will find many places open from which to choose. As IBD stated, the Sandestin Hilton may be the only place in town open for Christmas food service.

1. Spiral-sliced, honey-baked ham from Publix.
2. Cheese grits (easy to make).
3. Steamed shrimp from Goatfeathers.
4. Pre-cut fruit salad from Publix.
5. Sister Schubert's frozen yeast rolls.
6. Bag salad with dried cranberries, pecans, and goat cheese on the side (since some people don't like it), with Ina Garten's lemon vinaigrette:
? cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
? cup of high-quality extra-virgin olive oil
? teaspoon kosher salt
? teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Whisk together the vinaigrette ingredients. Lightly toss the greens with the cranberries and pecans. Then lightly toss with the vinaigrette. Sprinkle with goat cheese.
7. Nuts for an appetizer. On second thought, leave out the nuts on the salad if you are having nuts as an appetizer and nuts in the dessert.
8. My chocolate-pecan pie (so easy) with ice cream or frozen yogurt. You'll probably need at least two for that many people.
2/3 cup evaporated milk
2 tablespoons margarine
1 (6-ounce) package semisweet chocolate morsels
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped pecans
1 unbaked 9-inch pastry shell

Combine milk, margarine, and chocolate morsels in a small saucepan; place over low heat until chocolate melts, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Combine next 6 ingredients; stir in chocolate mixture. Pour into pastry shell. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.

9. (Edit) What would brunch be without eggs? Here's my low-fat overnight breakfast casserole. You'll need two.
7 slices bread
1 tablespoon margarine
1 package Canadian bacon, chopped -- leave this out since you will have ham
8 ounces low-fat cheddar cheese, pre-grated
6 “Egg Beaters”
1-1/2 cups low-fat milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Cut crusts off bread, and place on bottom of 9 X 13-inch casserole dish greased with margarine. Sprinkle bacon (skip this if you have ham on the side) and cheese on top of bread. Combine eggs, milk, salt, and pepper, and pour on top. Refrigerate overnight. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

Love the recipes Br. I wish I could have a brunch like that. I might add homemade caramel rolls...quick version frozen rolls in whipping cream, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nuts.

Family tradition dictates eggs, homemade biscuits, white gravy, bacon, country ham, and my additon of sausage/mushroom breakfast casserole. For 30 years I have made sawmill gravy and never touched the stuff.
