My 9 year old received a letter from Sen. Gaetz and a certificate from his son acknowledging my son's scores on last year's FCAT. Can anyone tell me how they know this information? Did I give permission for them to get it? While my son will get a kick out of receiving the letter, I think there is a privacy issue to be concerned about.

I got a letter from the governor congratulating my son on his test scores. Nice. But not really what we need to hear. Would rather hear about having an opportunity for a selected school Superintendent and budgets for all the good things education should provide.
If individual test scores are part of Sunshine law, it needs to be changed. Now.

I understand them. If they have never seen or experienced better, they don't recognize the mediocrity that is Walton County schools.
I was told by Sen. Gaetz' office that the school district ( read Mrs. Anderson) provides the FCAT lists to them. I know I have to deal with a form at the beginning of the school year that allows my son's picture to be in the yearbook, etc. what I did not realize is that it could be used to further political agendas.
