So, I'm wondering why our gov't offices are allowed to decorate for the Pagan holiday, Halloween, but not allowed to decorate for the Christian holiday, Christmas. Any ideas?![]()
It's a conspiracy, I'm sure, but I think that the conspiring parties have lost track of the co-conspirators.
I'm tempted to point out that Hallowe'en has Christian roots as well as pagan roots--it's All Hallow's Eve, the night before All Saint's Day. But then I'm afraid that the atheists and agnostics will team up with the crazy evangelicals and ban the holiday altogether.
Then where would the after Hallowe'en candy clearance sales go? What opportunity would post-adolescent girls find to dress like Mother Goose's Red Light District? What would happen to the time-honored tradition of stuffing those withered up jack-o-lanterns full of toilet paper, lighting them on fire, and putting them in the middle of the road (or, if the resources are available, launching them in a catapult?)
Worst of all, what excuse would you have for putting a picture of someone's giant painted-up arse on your avatar? (It gives a whole--hole?--new meaning to "Smiling Joe.")
