Engineered Rabbit Penises Raise Human Hopes | Wired Science | Wired.com
Using tissue grown in a laboratory, researchers have engineered fully functional replacement penises. The organs were made for rabbits, but the technique may someday be useful for people.

?This technology has considerable potential for patients requiring penile construction,? wrote researchers in a study published Monday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences....

Prostate cancer would be my guess.

Seriously though - what could we have accomplished or cured if we weren't more focused on producing Viagra and fake penises?

When would one need a replacement? :dunno:

Years ago there was a story about a young man who had a botched circumcision. His parents were told by his doctor to raise him as a girl. They did. I read the book about his life "As Nature Made Him".

He eventually committed suicide - as did his twin brother.

CBC News Indepth: David Reimer

I encourage all new parents to go to the NOCIRC website and check out the information about why routine circumcision is not necessary. My boys are certainly happy I did!

Anyway, that's one situation where I can see having a replacement penis would have seriously been the difference between life and death.

I have a theory that half of the trouble we're in now is because Viagra doubled the number of men trying to impress women. Men who should be older and wiser and softer, who should be solving problems instead of making things harder.

Not to mention the healthcare costs - since of course those %^$$* blue pills were covered ....................... I believe GM spent $125 million just on Viagra last year for its current and former employees.

How many jobs and government dollars would NOT paying for Viagra have saved?
