I don't WANT a conservative, which is why McCain appeals to me. His level of integrity and lack of skill at politricks are some major assets IMO.

I definitely respect someone a lot more for admitting they were wrong and then changing their position (instead of blindly and doggedly believing they are right no matter what - GW!), but certainly not for changing just to pander.

such as romney - several substantial changes in positions since his Mass. governorship! how convenient! sorry, you don't just change your mind on these rather personal belief issues. people do actually buy into it though. amazing.

As a Liberal Democrat, McCain IS the only respectable Repub. choice for Prez. As long as Huckabee is gone by tonight, I will be very happy!

According to Rush Limbaugh, to whom I'm listening right now, McCain is anything but a Conservative. I agree. I personally think that McCain will propose what he thinks is best for the country and work to get just exactly that. He is honest and has integrity, something I find lacking in most of the other candidates. I also think he will listen to his advisors and if they can show him to be wrong or misinformed, he will correct his policy accordingly, something Bush hasn't always done. My father, uneducated by today's standards, use to say "Son, a wise man will often change his mind, a fool never does". Those words have held me in good stead many times. I think he is by far the best candidate running at this time but then I am familar with the military mind set and still live by it to a great degree. Rush, on this subject at least, is a fool. But then for him its not the first time.

:clap:Great post - I agree with everything you said.

I totally agree that McCain is anything but conservative, but how is this a good thing for the republican party?

I personally think that McCain will propose what he thinks is best for the country and work to get just exactly that.

What do you think he will propose?

He is honest and has integrity, something I find lacking in most of the other candidates. I also think he will listen to his advisors and if they can show him to be wrong or misinformed, he will correct his policy accordingly, something Bush hasn't always done. My father, uneducated by today's standards, use to say "Son, a wise man will often change his mind, a fool never does". Those words have held me in good stead many times.

It seems as though you are saying he will keep making mistakes as President. Why do we want someone as our President who we know doesn't get things right the first time? It also seems like he doesn't answer any question without "name-dropping", so why don't we just elect one of his advisers to be President?

I think he is by far the best candidate running at this time but then I am familar with the military mind set and still live by it to a great degree.

Why does the military not agree with you? Seems like the military is putting their money somewhere else:
