I'm thinking of renting my dog friendly fenced yard, house & art studio out on extended short term basis to visiting artists who want to bring dogs and or families and who need studio space to work while they are here at the beach. I was thinking renting the place out on 1 to 3 month time frames. I have never had any experience with this type of situation, so I thought I would post my idea here on the forum and ask for advice...Is this a BAD IDEA? Are renter/people really as horrid as I hear? The existing studio space has been well used-it is set up for a messy working painter with lots of light. I havent changed that yet. The idea for renting my space out to other artists has come from the difficulty I am having in finding suitable studio space where I'm relocating to. I've done a bit of checking and there isn't this kind of live-work art studio dog friendly rental here at the beach either.
I also currently have my house/studio for sale (FSBO) and would like to keep it on the market but would also like to move back to the mountains ASAP so I would need the income from the beach place to offset my rental expense in new location.
Any words of advice? thoughts?
