"Jersey Boys" was wonderful!!! After a day of beauty, I stepped up to the box office to cadge a last-minute ticket, but all gone. Went back to my hotel to pout, then decided to nip back to the box office and snag an orchestra seat for today's matinee, curtail the shopping. Well, they had just released house seats and I got one in row 8 center orchestra. Was all I could do to not jump out of that seat and boogie in the aisle. Two cute young things sitting next to me said the music was "corny" and "how could anyone like this stuff," left at intermission. Well, it's true that none of the words had anything to do with committing a sexual act with an officer of the law or his mother. (Don't get me started.)
Repaired to the raw bar at the wonderful Farallon Restaurant after and ordered up a dozen oysters from various waters around the world, along with a prawn cocktail and two glasses of the driest white wine they had. Mimicked Ernest Hemingway in Paris with these, until an attendee of the World Geophysical Conference sat next to me and we had this absolutely fascinating conversation about the state of our oceans and how it will effect mankind. He was a young Icelandic Ph.D. oceanographer and a wonderful conversationalist. Fortunately, I am not yet too old to remember most of a long trip through Scandinavia some years back and had something to offer in the way of talk. So, a new friend.
Spent the entire day enjoying the holiday sights and shopping. Bought Levis at half-price and JP Tod at full-price :nono1: . And found a pair of sale shoes for the holidays that look like something straight out of Dr. Zhivago. As for the day of beauty, I will only say that it is costing me four times as much to look not half as good as in days of yore...what is wrong with this picture?
See many of you next week. And yes, Sueshore I definitely think that Conch Out might be a keeper (as if there was a choice). Let's talk!
