Politics has always been dirty, nasty and especially nauseating. If you look through history, you will notice that what is being experienced today is no worse and in many ways much milder, than the past. The big difference is that it is now international at the blink of an eye.

While I agree that any attack on children should be off limits, she should have also been intelligent enough to be aware of what politics was like and have a thick skin to deflect it.....
If she was intelligent enough.....

She looked at the past year with Rose Colored Glasses and is now paying the piper. Thank God that our current President doesn't just quit because of pressure......and frankly, he has been and continues to be treated far worse than she. Just how many threats have been on her life? How many times has she been called every racist name out there? How many times has she been compared to the most evil dictators ever?

IMO the best thing that she could do for herself and her family is to say goodbye to politics and make big bucks in book deals, speaking engagements and radio...... Best wishes "Maverick"....

I agree Lynnie. I have 3 kids and I admit the gloves would come off if it were me. Especially my little girl. Although, I think it would scare her cause she has never seen Daddy really upset.

Well, I heard that pain isn't resigning and that this was all a hoax orchestrated by Tina Fey for more skits.

Seriously though, Palin is too narcissistic to disappear out of the limelight; and the fact alone that she has been quoted as saying that she is answering to a higher calling supports that. Those who aren't narcissistic and religious will question their calling because they do not believe themselves worthy of such. We'll see soon enough I suppose, and then we can resurrect this thread and see how maternal she really is that those posit. Something smells fishy and it's apropos that she is headed for a fishing trip.

Again, Lynnie, defending your children is only natural and commendable, but it does not necessarily mean you are qualified to the highest position in the country. I really kind of resent the implication that there was a concerted and approved left wing attack on her children. That's nuts. There are some crackpot bloggers out there, but they deserve about as much attention as some of the flakes who inhabit SOWAL.

I haven't stated she is qualifed for any seat. Nor have I used the terms left wing.

Scooterbug, I can't even believe this even came out of you: your decision to continue your pregnancy when you know they have Down's Syndrome you don't get to then complain when your baby gets commented on.

Bear in mind that I am pro choice. This is her family and these are her decisions.

You know what I think it is. I think it is this. If several of us were sitting down at lunch or over a cool drink to discuss this I DOUBT it would ever get to a level such as this. I am realizing more and more that this is the down side of forums. WE are now like soundbites and headlines. One has to come back and EXPLAIN what they meant because in real life, that would have been taken care of in the next sentence. "Oh no, I meant...."

I will say this. Sarah Palin, IMO, did not quit her job because she couldn't take it. No no, her head is spinning right now with her next plan. She is a PIT BULL with LIPSTICK remember? She is going to come back with her strong base and move forward. I HOPE when she does that people will attack her policies and not her kids - and I am certain that is something on which we can all agree.

Now, is it because I have given out so many THXS today that this forum won't let me issue any more??

Here's to POLITICS! LOL I told myself when I got on this forum that I WON'T discuss Politics, Religion or The Great Pumpkin!! 2 out of 3 ain't bad lol!

Someone else said something ugly. And, your twist is almost that if you go public and on a magazine that people should comment on a deformed or handicapped child. This is absolutely ludicrous!

And, here is the video of the resignation speech, which Gov. Palin clearly states an adult making fun of her baby, Trig, who has Down's Syndrome. Some are so keyed up that hearing what she said isn't even an option. Minute 3:30 is where she mentions the mean-spirited adults and Trig.

And, some of you think that because she was on the cover of a mag with Trig that she is supposed to take this stuff? Hhhhmmmmmm.
