I'm ashamed to admit it, but I've lived in the south 22 years and have never been to Savannah, Georgia. :dunno:
I'm making an out of the way sidetrip, going to be there all day, for one day, Friday September 28th, then heading to Greensboro, North Carolina Saturday night to see
VAN HALEN.

Sunday I'm taking the shortcut (10hrs) through Atlanta and will stop to play for a few hours in Six Flags.

However, for that one day in Savanah, even the next morning for breakfast, I'm looking for Sowalian Suggestions as to must see SG (SavGA)-Especially for photo-ops. I'm into architecture, design and history. Oh yeah, and FOOD. ;-)

So any homes or points of interests I should take visit and take shots of, and places to eat for Lunch, Dinner and Breakfast would be greatly appreciated.:D

Thanks,

dka:drink:

Never been...sorry, My fav song by VH is
Panama

Jump back, what's that sound ? Here she comes, full blast and top down. Hot shoe, burnin' down the avenue. Model citizen zero discipline Don't you know she's coming home with me? You'l lose her in the turn. I'll get her! Panama, Panama Panama, Panama Ain't nothin' like it, her shiny machine. Got the feel for the wheel, keep the moving parts clean. Hot shoe, burnin' down the avenue, Got an on-ramp comin' through my bedroom. Don't you know she's coming home with me? You'll lose her in the turn. I'll get her! Yeah, we're runnin' a little bit hot tonight. I can barely see the road from the heat comin' off of it. Ah, you reach down, between my legs, ease the seat back. She's blinding, I'm flying, Right behind the rear-view mirror now. Got the feeling, power steering, Pistons popping, ain't no stopping now! Panama, Panama Panama, Panama
I can see you singing this....

I've never been to Savannah myself either. Am planning a trip to North Georgia to do a bit of trout fishing and spending a couple days in Savannah and along the coast of Georgia approximately the same time. Maybe we can get together and I'll let you buy me a drink :D

I'll be wearing these:

I have only been once, but knowing what interests you, I advise you to go downtown and look around the area near SCAD. A number of cool shops, old churches and houses, cemeteries and of course, the squares. Wear comfy shoes!

There are some decent restaurants along the river in Savannah, but if you want good eats and a great atmosphere you should check out The Crab Shack! It's on the road between Savannah and Tybee Island just beyond Ft.
Pulaski. Here's a link...

Try the Olde Pink House, 23 Abercorn, 912-232-4286. A 1880-type building but very elegant. Nice bar and fireplace in the basement. We've eaten there many times. Don't forget the shecrab soup! The last time we were in Savannah we didn't have a reservation and there was a 2 hour wait.
