Anyone know why Scavengers is closed? I am unable to reach anyone, and they've been closed all week. I'm trying to get my jewelry display out of there...but no luck.

My guess is they have gone out of business, as I have been hearing rumors for months. I really enjoyed shopping there, but sellers had a great deal of trouble.

Good luck getting your stuff from them, took me more than a month when they were open!

Really bizarre for them to not notify the artists that the doors were closing so they could come get their things. I'm not sure what to do...I need to get my things from them. :/

Do you have some kind of written contract with the owner? Do you have detailed information on the inventory and costs of the items being held by the owner? If you do, notify the store owner (find out the name and address from the building lease owner) in a written document sent by certified mail that you want your items returned and if you don't receive them in a specified time, you'll sue in small claims court.

It might get a bit more tricky if you don't have any documents and the store owner owes money to the owner of the building--it that is the case, you might just have to throw yourself at the mercy of the building owner, as the owner will most likely keep the merchandise to offset monies owed by the shopkeeper.

In any case, get to the building owner ASAP to beat the rush.

I had to go to sheriff sub station, take out a warrant to get reimbursed for a bad check from Scavengers. Was a hassle but worth it!

Ok, got the low down on Scavengers. The owner has skipped town and has left a LOT of us local artists unpaid and unable to retrieve our merchandise. After HOURS on the phone this morning, I have contacted the right person that can help. If any of you on here have items in Scavengers and would like to get them out, please message me and will give you the contact persons phone number.

I left items there for sale, and was never contacted when they sold. When I left messages of inquiry, my calls were not returned. I went to the shop to inquire in person, and was given a check without any apology. The check bounced. Calls regarding the bounced check were not returned. I too had to swear out a warrant through the county attorney's office. Finally got paid via a check from the county. Never saw news that the owner was arrested for bad checks, which I still find curious.

The owner resides in Panama City, or at least hea did. You can find his address via online white pages search.
