No matter who wins, Sink deserves an award for "best political spin" of the race! :D

It was an honest goof by someone, other than Alex Sink, and it didn't cost the taxpayers $1.5 billion dollars in Medicare fraud.

Versus the ~18 billion in losses to the state's public service employee pension fund, under the watchful eye of Alex Sink, Charlie Crist, and Bill McCollum. We're trading worse for better if we get Scott, as far as the numbers go, IMHO.

In terms of pension plan losses, not many states were doing much better over the time period, and we're still in better shape there than a lot of other states. (and better than a lot of Florida government units who go at it alone instead of buying into FRS)

I'd like to see some stats on that.

Sink also approved our federal unemployment insurance loans totally around 2 billion. Interest on those loans kicks in in January.

The funds may have lost money; most pension funds have; and the responsibility for the investment is a group responsibility, not any one person--I would wager those three at least knew what was going on and if fraud had been suspected, each of them would have taken some action..,,unlike a certain Mr. Scott who, as the CEO of his company claimed he knew nothing about the fraud...I don't believe him, but, if his statement is true and he did not know then he should have known (a reasonable person who is charge should know what's going on in the company)...and that lack of responsibility and lack of accountability is far worse than anything that has been attributed to Sink, Crist, or McCollum IMO.
I don't want someone that out of touch running Florida.

The guy got fired as CEO because of the fraud that happened under his watch. This was your tax money that he was taking. Unbelieveable to me that anyone would consider voting for this guy. Maybe Ken Lay for president?

Here's the politifact take on it:

PolitiFact Florida | GOP says Alex Sink gave bonuses to state pension workers who lost billions

Sounds like the bonuses in question were essentially overtime pay for people not normally elgible for overtime pay during a short time when they went above and beyond in terms of work hours.

I am not overly fond of the money lost on the Stuyvesant Town real estate mess, but overall FRS seems to have done better managing my pension account than a lot of the defined contribution options available to certain classes of state employees.
