I have never seen seashells in South Walton like I do today. Usually there is very little to look at, much less ever pick up. A little slow here today and so the little lady and I decide to go down and check on nest #33 over near Dune Allen and parts of the beach resembled Mexico Beach! We were literally walking in shells all over the beach. They aren't as large as Mexico Beach, but that was amazing.

I also don't recall the water being that still and beautiful emerald green as it is today. Nice sandbars. Very tempting to play hookey today and break out the snorkel equipment. Saw two Pompano following the shore and hardtails were chasing minnows right up until they got stuck on the sand. Then the seagulls got them.

Just another beautiful day in paradise.

Got any pics???

I took a look at Grayton this morning while delivering the carpoolers...several small boats out there getting the early morning fish. Unfortunately, I had to spend the rest of my day working and wrangling the puppies to the vet. The good news is that Smalls got his first round of puppy shots and will soon be cleared to socialize, then I can get a permit and take him to play on the beach on these early mornings!!!!

I very much enjoyed seeing your shells. Where do you have the best luck? I have several baskets and glass bowls of shells in my house and office (Midtown Atlanta) which were collected in Mexico Beach and the state park on Cape San Blas. I haven't had much luck gathering shells during our Seagrove vacations. But then Mexico Beach and Cape San Blas don't have the same gorgeous water that the 30A communities wnjoy, so I guess one place can't have it all...

The Shell Depot in PCB. :D

Seriously though, Shell Island and Mexico Beach have long been standards, although as ASH has pointed out we get sporatic deposits.

Sand dollars

i agree, there's an abundance of huge, beautiful sand dollars in the st. joe bay.

Just be sure to collect only the dead ones rather than the live ones.
This goes for shells also.

Oh yeah, have had to put hundreds back because they were inhabited by hermit crabs. Someone ask my Wife about hermit crabs while she is at the Soiree and y'all will be rolling in the sand laughing. ;-)

Sounds like October is here early!

I cannot get out to the beach this week but I need lots of Sea Shells for my booth I am doing for the Back to Nature Family Fun Day. I am doing kids activities and will need shells lots of them. If you know anyone that has some or collected any they would be willing to give to me that would be fantastic!! Thanks!!
