The family ate at Shorty's last night. Natalia was our server (yeah, we loved her last year). She looked at me and hubby and said Texas right? She was correct, she even remembered where we sat!! How cool to be remembered, makes one feel like a local.
We tried the lime soup, it was fine, I'm pretty spoiled to exceptionally good tortilla soup so I won't hold that against them. Natalia says the gumbo is good and spicy so we'll try that next time.
I had shrimp and grits with twiced baked potato and stewed okra and tomatoes, very good stuff. Hubby had grilled shrimp and fries, he cleaned his plate and really liked the cocktail sauce. Mom had fried shrimp, twice baked, okra and tomatoes and loved her okra and tomatoes (one of her favorites!) and cleaned her plate and loved the tartar. Stepdad had blackened shrimp with twice baked and asparagus-cleaned his plate happily. Bro had shrimp and grits, twice baked and fries-another clean plate.
The place is quite different than before, it's blue and white beach tones inside now, they are still in a soft opening and are still tweaking the menu so Natalia was asking us about the menu which is cool to think you might have a bit of influence on menu changes in the future as a customer. The view is still amazing, the staff are friendly, our food was very good, our service was perfect.
Hubby and I will be back next week to try the ribeye and gumbo!
